Anti-UV solutions
Polymers are materials that are sensitive to weathering and UV radiation. To preserve their mechanical and aesthetic characteristics, they need to be protected.

Formulations
Product durability is guaranteed thanks to a rigorous selection of UV stabilizers to suit your applications.

R&D
The anti-UV solutions developed are evaluated in a controlled environment, using accelerated UV aging tests.

Optimum protection
UV resistance depends on the location and duration of exposure, the nature of the colour pigments, the polymer and the toxicological requirements
Protect your polymers from UV rays, while protecting the environment
Certain molecules used for UV stabilization, although effective, are toxic to humans and the environment, and will soon be banned. This is particularly true of bumetrizole (benzotriazole family), which is already on the list of banned substances (REACH), and monomeric HALS 1, which is the subject of controversy.
Elixance is committed to developing innovative, environmentally-friendly alternatives, including new anti-UV masterbatches offering optimal protection while excluding controversial molecules.
Our expertise focuses on color stabilization in polymeric matrices, particularly polypropylene (PP), for which UV stabilization is particularly demanding.
Using our UV aging chamber, we analyze color evolution by measuring ΔE as a function of accumulated solar energy (kLy). This approach enables us to guarantee high-performance, long-lasting solutions tailored to our customers’ needs.
Elixance can advise and assist you in your choice of UV stabilizer, offering high-performance, environmentally-friendly solutions.
REACH compliance
The REACH regulation aims to guarantee the safety of chemical products in Europe, by encouraging the use of substances that are safer for people and the environment.
By turning to REACH-compliant molecules, you are actively helping to reduce chemical risks, while improving the sustainability of your processes.
Adopting these alternatives means choosing a more responsible industry, in line with current ecological and health issues, while anticipating future legislative developments.
Resistance to UV: Color stability tested by our laboratory
A calibration calculation then enables us to convert this measure of energy accumulation in kLy into an estimated lifetime for a specific region of the globe, based on its average sunshine level.

Absorbers
Replacement for bumetrizole, benzotriazole family.
Chemical name: 2-(3-ter-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methylphenyl)-5-chlorobenzotriazole

A UV absorber is a family of chemical additives incorporated into polymers to reduce the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation. These compounds act by absorbing UV energy in a specific wavelength range (often between 280 and 350 nm UVB) and dissipating this energy in the form of heat, thus protecting the polymer matrix.
The results of our study
AFFIXO LX102351
The AFFIXO LX102351 anti-UV additive has a higher absorbency spectrum than bumetrizole in the 270-350nm wavelength range (the most harmful UVB zone), providing more effective protection for polyolefins.
AFFIXO LX102198
AFFIXO LX102198 UV stabilizer additive has an absorption spectrum equivalent to bumetrizole. Its particularity of no longer absorbing UV rays after 340 nm makes it a preferred choice for your color masterbatches, as it causes no yellow coloration, unlike bumetrizole.
HALS
Replacement of monomeric HALS type HALS 1.
Chemical name : Bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl) sebacate

Réf : LX102369
HALS (Hindered Amine Light Stabilizers) are chemical additives used to protect polymers against the degrading effects of UV radiation, by capturing the free radicals generated by degradation. Unlike UV absorbers, HALS do not block UV directly, but intervene in the degradation stabilization process by neutralizing the free radicals generated by exposure to UV radiation, thus blocking the chain reaction mechanism.
The results of our study
AFFIXO LX102303
The AFFIXO LX102303 anti-UV additive offers stabilization properties 2 times greater than those of HALS 1 at low rates. This new formulation, currently in the evaluation phase, shows very promising results.
AFFIXO LX102369
AFFIXO LX102369 stabilizing additive offers significantly improved long-term color stabilization. Compared with HALS 1, it boasts superior performance, ensuring better resistance of materials to UV rays over longer lifetimes.
